Chassell Township, Michigan

Chassell Township is a civil township of Houghton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,822 at the 2000 census. The township was organized on April 14, 1888, and named John Chassell, a prominent businessman and farmer whose farmland became the site of the community of Chassel.

Chassell is an unincorporated community in Chassell Township of Houghton County in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is located on Pike Bay at the south end of Portage Lake {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:47|01|42|N|88|31|30|W| | |name= }} and is the largest community in the township. Torch Bay

Torch Bay is a freshwater bay connecting Torch Lake with Portage Lake in Houghton County on the Keweenaw Peninsula, which juts into Lake Superior from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is lined by the unincorporated settlements of Dreamland, Point Mills and Senter and by wooded hills of as much as 200 feet (60 m) in height. There is also the Torch Bay Natural Area — 39 acres (158,000 m²) in Torch Lake Township, Antrim County, Michigan in the Lower Peninsula.

Keweenaw Bay

Keweenaw Bay is an arm of Lake Superior in North America. It is located adjacent to the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan, to the southeast of the Keweenaw Peninsula. It is also the name of a small community near the bay. Towns near Keweenaw Bay include Baraga, L'Anse and Assinins.
