Eddleston

Eddleston (Scottish Gaelic: Baile Ghille Mhoire) is a small village and civil parish in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It lies 4 miles north of Peebles and 9 miles south of Penicuik on the A703, which passes through the centre of the village. Nearby is the Great Polish Map of Scotland, a large terrain map. The Eddleston Water runs through the village. According to the 2001 census, there were 129 households, with a population of 335 people, 47% male and 53% female.

Eddleston Water

Eddleston Water is a small river north of Peebles, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland which joins the River Tweed at Peebles. It is also known locally as "The Cuddy". Eddleston Water rises near Mount Lothian and passes through Waterheads, Eddleston, Milkieston, and Redscarhead along the route of the A703. It runs into Peebles where the Tree Bridge crosses it.

Redscarhead

Redscarhead is a village in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, off the A703, by the Eddleston Water, and close to Cringletie. In the village is a memorial to George Meikle Kemp, the architect who designed the Scott Monument in Edinburgh.

Tweeddale

Tweeddale is a committee area and lieutenancy area in the Scottish Borders with a population of 17,394 at the latest census in 2001 it is the second smallest of the 5 committee areas in the Borders. It is the traditional name for the area drained by the upper reaches of the River Tweed. This area was considered to end before the Yarrow Water flowed into the Tweed, so the area was bounded to the south and east by the Yarrow/Tweed watershed, and to the north and east by the Gala/Tweed watershed.

Peeblesshire

Peeblesshire (Siorrachd nam Pùballan in Gaelic), the County of Peebles or Tweeddale was a county of Scotland. Its main town was Peebles, and it bordered Midlothian to the north, Selkirkshire to the east, Dumfriesshire to the south, and Lanarkshire to the west. After the local government reorganisation of 1975 the use of the name Peeblesshire was discontinued, and the area was governed as the district of Tweeddale.
